Having bought a tester (already proved its worth on spare injectors) I though I would test those on the BMC 1.5 on the boat.
The first steadfastly declines to move. Tapping with the mallet has not loosened them.
Any suggestions please?

Special Injector Bars with ground and polished ends are the answer for stud retained injectors like yours.

You place the thin ends under the injector flange and move the opposite ends apart. Their length and special shape lifts the injector easily.

Just beware if doing this on engines with injector sleeves which might come out with the injector if the tool does not sit on the sleeve upper flange.

It’s worth cleaning the carbon build up in the heater plug housing whilst you are in the area
It makes a big difference to cold starting
You use a twist drill of appropriate size turned by hand
I don’t recall the correct size

You may break the heater plugs while removing, better to leave alone if working. Otherwise it's a head-off job.

It’s part of the recommendation in the WS manual and possibly owners books to be done
Carbon build up in the heater plug aperture is a known problem in these engines

But removing the heater plugs may not help removing the injector
