Apple crippled all the real data IO capability of the platform. This is a good article to start with. http://digitalyacht.net/2013/01/22/getting-nmea-data-to-an-ipad-or-iphone/ A lot depends on your data formats , nmea, nmea 2000, seatalk etc etc.

Had you bought and Android tablet, then Seaclear would be worthwhile and great value. http://www.visitmyharbour.com/ http://Polarnavy.com also do a version of Polarview for Ipad but not with UK charts, only US ones. To wifi enable your data, feed it into a nmea to wifi adaptor such as this one I tested on this thread: http://www.ybw.com/forums/showthread.php?417332-Cheap-diy-nmea-to-wifi-adaptor-tested-and-working It is about 1/6th price of commercial nmea to wifi interfaces, then you will be able to pick up the data on an Ipad, tablet, laptop etc. (You just connect it to the nmea 0183 output on a plotter or mfd) Ian Last edited: 2 Jan 2015
