how to clean fenders?

What is the best way to clean white fenders? Cif then polish, or some other way?
Mine are a little scuffed in places and I'm waxing the hull for the first time in ages and don't want to mess it up with dirty fenders.

buy fender socks - it cleans them up a treat over a season.

OTHERWISE
I use G101 (Autosmart) to get the crud off. I then treat with Fabsil Gold for that DWA affect.

UPVC window cleaner. It brings all pvc fenders back to gleaming white but wont remove any scratches or gouges in your fenders.

I think CIF will scratch them and although it makes cleaning easy you'll be doing it again shortly. I use pro marine rib shine and magic eraser sponges. The sponges with anything works well.

Please do not use fender socks when rafted to my boat. I have scratches from such activities because careless owners get grit in the socks & it scratches my gel. I have neat semicircular lines to show it that I noticed after a visitor left & it has happened before.

Some say they keep the socks clean, but when you ask them why they have socks . Invariably it is to keep the fenders clean. Well that begs the question - If you cannot keep your fenders clean, how do you intend to keep the fabric of socks ( which will attract dirt) clean?

Now watch the howls of protest !!!!!!!!!

Our fenders sox go in the washing Machine at least twice a season , I would not tolerate scratches on my gel coat either

Magic erasers are abrasive not sure how they compare to cif but they work on the same principle.

T-cut. Works great. Be sure to polish it off and rinse the fender before returning to service. We pay our son a pack of football stickers per fender. Altogether effective.

Acetone and petrol are very good but seem to melt the gloss finish. the charter boys around these parts Eastern med use petrol.

Cheapo oven cleaner. I got over thirty fenders on my boats to keep clean. Need lots of care from reception docks. Works fine.

I'm trying to remember what I used some years ago that made them go sticky. It might have been acetone?
