Hi, I want to post a thread and attach a video of my boat making an odd noise which I’d like help with diagnosis on but it seems reluctant to attach. It’s 3.2mb. Is the file size too big?

TIA

John

I have used Clideo in the past and some other app that I can no longer remember...it did work (if I recall correctly)

There are various online hosting that can do it ... but the three most known (IMHO)

Youtube is the well known one and possibly the most used ... ( I use this as its designed for video ... ) Free

IMGUR - like many others - is an image hosting site that can upload videos as well ... sadly - the latest update has created an 'album' glitch - but I still use it for my images .. it can be free or paid ... I moved to IMGUR when Photobucket changed its plans ..

Photobucket - this was very popular Image and Video upload site until change of 'owners' - then they changed the hosting plans and many cancelled their plans when fees skyrocketed ... I still have photos there - but only because of the sheer volume of photos I uploaded over the years ... Apart from the plan fees - the worst factor is if you want to retrieve your photos and close the site ... they make it difficult !

If you host it on YouTube first, doesn’t that mean the whole world has access to it...rather than a closed site like the Lounge ?

Only if you accept open listing ... you can apply restrictions :

1. Only those you invite to watch
2. Only those who subscribe to your channel
3. Open - all public viewing.

Which is pretty well standard for most hosting sites anyway ..

Edit : Added after 'Like' below ...

If the video is that sensitive - why is it being uploaded to a site then ??

There are two criticism's of Youtube for me since recent changes on YT :

The extreme level of copyright checking that can at times fail to accept GNU / Free music you add to videos.

The recent automatic 'fuzzying / de-focussing' of some sensitive parts of videos ... so that the 'woke' community are not offended by scenes of sensitive / brutal nature. This can destroy the point of a video for example historical events etc.
