Well the engine is the greatest drinker in this class. Volvo 435 are drinking 82l/h at wot. Yanmar 430hp 82l/h and 5.9 QSB 425 87l/h so you are right.
You are not more nuts than other depending on a single outboard or single petrol inboard. Modern petrol’s seems to have a less dirt problems with the fuel.
Statement from the Norwegian rescue fleet. Don’t think difference is big
It’s a lot of difference where you are in the world. Norwegian west coast in bad wether a engine stop can get serious quite fast. (Lots of VP D4 and D6 have total engine failures and owners are reporting long minutes before the help comes.)
