thats how the modification process started - drink faster avoid spills, however that meant on longer voyages we nearly ran out. We had one particularly scary passage when we realized too late that we only had one bottle of red wine left (and not a particulalry good one either) and 4 tinnies. (I had necked the cooking sherry a week earlier under similar circumstances- its a good cure for scurvy apparently) I checked the reeds almanac for the nearest "offy" but they don't seem to consider "ofies" a useful nautical piece of information. I searched the plotter charts too but Raymarine also seem to have omitted the chart symbol for an "offy".
So with this new knowledge and experience we calculated a suitable reserve quantity (20% seemed a safe margin) and started improvement work. Did we do the right thing? is 20% too low?
