Sort of topical pending release of the Donald Crowhurst film.
The original Teignmouth Electron was completely wrecked in the Caymans. I have seen photos of the replica used for filming, which has a doghouse and is ketch rigged. Today I came across another Teignmouth Electron in a boatyard. This trimaran has a conventional coach roof and is sloop or cutter rigged. Strange.

Two films were being made around the same time about Donald Crowhurst's voyage so two boats were produced. The one with Colin Firth is the one which is to be released towards the end of this year but I don't know what's happened to the other film.

It is odd isn't it. All the Google images that I've see showing it before he left have this round coachroof

But the wreckage has the doghouse

I don't remember any change being mentioned in the book, bit it's a long time since I read it.

Can't remember where I read it, possibly one of the old YMs I'm reading and binning prior to a house move, but I think in its later years Teignmouth Electron was converted into a dive boat, operated initially at Grand Cayman, but there was some friction there with more established diving businesses so the guy moved it to Cayman Brac where eventually it was abandoned.

The wheelhouse in the picture was added for the dive venture.

Most of Arthur Piver's designs were built by amateurs and many made alterations with varying degrees of success. The Teignmouth Electron was basically a 'Victress' and there is no guarantee that other Victresses were all built to conform with the original design.

Yes I remember Mike Mc Mullen, was with him in the '76 OSTAR.
His wife was electrocuted days before the race by picking up a sander from the water which she dropped while cleaning the hull.
He took part in the race taking the northern route and the rest is history.
Went to his memorial in Chelsea Old Church.
Maybe he tried too hard?
Best,
Mad Pad

Was it this one?

(sighted a couple of years ago in Penarth).

That's the one for the low-budget film Richard mentions. Also have no idea what happened to it (the film, not the boat).

That's the one - in fact certain letters are picked out in a different colour which would read "Ten Men".
Also saw in same.boatyard Hantu Biru, the PBO project boat.
