If you count a bucket and sponge as a manual bilge pump and a fishing line and weight as an ad-hoc lead line then 6. I have some of them in my garage, though. :)

more importantly, how many know their manual bilge pump works, how to use the sextant, are the charts and paper books in readable condition and up to date, does the kedge have rode, and is the shackle rusty, does the trailing log work, does the hurricane lamp have fuel and lighter, are the flares in date, can the fog horn actually be heard by anyone not on board the boat, and does it need a new can of air every 5 minutes?

It's no good having them all on board otherwise :D

Sextant - yes but can't use it!
Paper Almanac
Lead line
Paper charts - sufficient for emergencies
Hand bearing compass
Kedge
Fids
NtoM
Hurricane lamp
Cone
Manual bilge pump
Manual fog hor
Flares
Wind scoop
Marlin spike

I make that 15 - can't say as I've much use for tallow and RDF is SO twentieth century :D

Sensible advice, apart from the glaring schoolboy error: flares do, in fact , work when out of date.

I have 16,; all except an RDF, trailing log, signaling cannon, and tallow.

LED Hurricane lamp is also not for the purists :)

I deliberately didn't put flares on the list! EDIT, except that I did.... Ooops.
