- LED flare (as well as the residual / legacy pyro ones included in the 7 above)
- 3 backup navigation devices with full Uk Admiralty charts
- detailed pilot guides (eg CCC)
- tides app on phone
etc

Do people really print out NtoM and keep them on board rather than just updating their charts as needed?

I didn't know rdf were still going. Seems a recent album is on spotify but none of the early stuff and I don't think anyone other than Nigel Tetley ever bothered with vinyl on board.

I included my very traditional tin hurricane lamp, which I’ve several times hung from the end of the boom for a gentle pleasant light while drinking and chatting late into the night at anchor. Admittedly though it doesn’t live on board, it’s something I’d bring on trips where I think it might be wanted.

I found one on Jissel when I was clearing out. A hand held white steamer scarer, around 10 years out of date. Given the problems of disposal, I let it off in our garden, a few miles from the coast. It went fizzle, phut, and that was it. No big white flame or anything useful. It got a soak in a bucket of water afterwards and went into the bin

When we left the boat in NZ we'd 17 aboard - no RDF, trailing log or signalling cannon - and to be honest our store of tallow was only about 25 grams in the bag with the sewing awl; then again, we did have most of the key elements of the plum gun still aboard too (4/10 version of an orange gun) which bang-wise would make a more than adequate substitute for the signal cannon.

Before the fire on board which destroyed or damaged most of my equipment my score was 10. It's now zero, but that's OK seeing that I am currently boatless :(
