In the late 70's a Shakespeare 16ft Speedboat with 50hp Mercury Blue Band (sank it in S of France in a mistral)

2002 Rinker V260
2003 Fairline Targa 31 - twin V8 petrols and I thought that was expensive on fuel!!
2004 Princess V40
2005 as above but also another targa 31 as a do'er upper
2006 Rinker V260 same boat back again
2008 Sealine S41
2010 Fairline Phantom 46

Mostly all good boats but the Sealine was the least enjoyed!!!!

I'm intrigued by the idea of having logged "loads of miles" in any boat without ever feeling unsafe.
I mean, I had a dozen of boats (also in reply to your question), the biggest of which similar in size to your P52, but I've experienced some "unsafe" feelings at times, to some extent, with all of them - even with the most seaworthy ones.

I have felt unhappy and sometimes unsafe on some boats, but the P 52 never and we did big seas and strong wind, as you do when learning.
I often warm to a boat after a while, bit like getting to know someone, that I did not like at first. With the 52 it was instant like.

Interesting, it has always taken a while for me too.
The only instant like was possibly with my Kyosho wavemaster...
...which is also the one I've owned for longer, coming to think of it.

Seasafe 15 + Mercury 9.8 Engine lasted 4hrs!!! - was replaced by a Johnson 8
Bonwitco 405? + Yamaha 15 Also bought a Bonwitco 285 with Johnson 4, for our young kids.
Orkney Strikeliner + Johnson 25 - great little inshore/estuary boat.
Given use of Ryds 600 + Suzuki 90 - even greater little boat. Roamed between West Bay/Bridport and Falmouth.
Currently share Botnia Targa 25 - love it to bits. Similar "cruising" ground to Ryds but in a lot more comfort and significantly worse sea conditions.

Also have a well used Linder 404 at the bottom of the garden.

No 2. New Marina GT with twin 33hp Johnson's Beached Landudno. RNLI attended
No 3 New Shetland Suntrip. Dont know why I bought it. PX for No 4
No 4 New 26ft Burland Canal Cruiser, On Bridgewater PX for No 5
No 5 New 27ft Nauticus Canal Cruiser PX for No 6 No 6 New Conway 26. 2 X 130 Volvo. At Hollyhead. Brilliant Boat PX for No 7
No 7 New Moody 30. Lovely Boat PX for No 8.
No 8 New Princess 33. After delivery returned it as not of being of merchantable
quality and received my money back plus return of Moody 30.
No 9 In 1982 I bought a 33ft Nauticat Ketch.
No 10 Drascombe Lugger
No 11 Guy Couach 22ft Cabin Cruiser Brittany Coast, and on Windamere but moving
back to the sea.

Oh for the good old days when we had inflation and my Conway 26 cost £4400 new and 3 years later I PX'd it for £7000 against the Moody 30. On Every single boat listed above I have got more back than I paid for it.
