Following the theme of threads on fuel consumption etc. and with the end of the traditional sailing season upon us...
How long was your season and what were the high and low points?
Skybird comes out tomorrow having gone in on 1st March. During that time we have logged 1021NM (1135 over the ground according to the GPS) and averaged 4.9 knots. About half our mileage has been doing the RSYC Double Series which has been great fun. We've also logged just short of 105 hours on the engine.
The high point was probably a spinnaker run from the inner harbour in Cherbourg all the way to Bembridge Ledge in glorious sunshine on the Sunday of the Whitsun Bank Holiday. The low point was a broach and spinnaker wrap about two cables off the beach just to the west of St Albans head at about 1am in the morning during the Weymouth double. It was just a touch scary for a moment or two...
What about your season?
Ed
P.S. I know the season is 12 months for many people these days, but some of us have a bunch of maintenance to do and an older boat which benefits from spending three or four months out of the water.
