how long to sail

Had my boat delivered Athens to Dublin last year. 40ft Masthead Sloop
Departure Athens (Piraeus) 12th July
Arrival Dublin 19th August (from memory, could have been one week later)
Uphill the whole way apparently. Head bashing all the way through the Med and up the Portugese coast, easy sail across Biscay.

I sailed my Oceanis 400 from Athens to Galway, Ireland this summer. We did Athens to Port St Louis through the Corinth canal and Straits of Messina in about a week. Mast down. Up through the Rhone, Saone, French canals and Seine in stages. That took three weeks in total including breakdowns. It could be done in less but allow three weeks in total with no hanging around. Mast up in Rouen and out at Honfleur and back to Ireland in about six days. Its not much slower than the atlantic route if you consider that the weather dosen't affect you so much. The stopovers are easier to get away from and back to and the food and wine in France are great. Great trip, caught tuna, had whales swim under us, sailed through whirlpools, saw volcanoes and hundreds of dolphins. If your draft is 1.8 or less this route is a good option. Its still against the prevaling winds so you will be motoring a lot unless you are lucky.
Would do it again without doubt. PM me if you want any more info or help
