How long have you owned your boat?

Last boat used 22ft Swin Ranger 16 years, current boat used Colvic Countess 33ft 20 years.
I expect this boat will outlast me but I haven't ruled out the possibility of downsizing.

First boat, A Hunter Ranger 245 for 3 seasons (I think). Amazing bionc boat and seriously good fun ;-)

Second Hunter, a Channel 31 for 13 seasons - a rocket ship, very fast and a great performer

Current boat, A Hanse 418 (kind of grown up Hunter?) 1 season

Built her in '07, now moving on to something more stable for this year. Lots of fun had.

Er...3 years. Guess I have a lot of time to go with my boat to reach even the average length of ownership here... Just as well I actually like it.

6½ years and no intention of selling in under 10 years. By then I will be in my mid 70's and will continue sailing whislt physically able.

Coming up to 10 years for this boat and (overlapping by 8 years) 14 years for the last one.

I’ve seen boats every year that I’d rather own than the current one but money means it’s a choice between my ideal boat which I could use for maybe 4 weeks a year or the current boat which I can afford to use for 3-4 months.

26 years. Come close to selling a few times but backed down at the last minute each time. I am a firm believer in the old adage that ‘the cheapest boat is the one you already own’.

I've averaged about 5 years of ownership over 20 odd years, each time buying slightly newer and bigger until I bought a brand new one in 2013. She's a keeper.

16ft Sports boat for 34 years. Trying to get rid of it for almost nothing without success. Yacht for 19 years so far and will sail her until I can't do it anymore !!

Current one (Victoria 26): 11 years and no plans ever to replace. Previous one (Westerly Jouster): 1987 - 2010. I also have the Ythan dinghy I learned to sail in, 45-ish years ago.

Last one 29 years. This one coming up to two years. She isn’t intended as a long term boat: if I get ten years I’ll be happy (I’m 67!) She is intended as the boat to do my serious sailing in.

This isn’t counting the Rescue Puppy (Uffa Fox International Fourteen) which is very much inclined to bite the hand that feeds her by tipping him in and making him bail for ever and a day... or the Squib which belongs to #2 son or the International Canoe that belongs to #1 son, and can be relied upon to tip him in, too.

This boat 16 years but previous three for much shorter periods. Decided some years ago to stop visiting used boat shows, we often saw something we fancied and bought on the spot, then had to get rid of the other boat.

Last boat 6 years, sold her to go bigger for a liveaboard which we have now had since November - Princess 415
