how long from Bray to Penton Hook?

Don't do that. You can't advise others to attempt to cheat the system and then moan about people not paying their dues.

When you get the first lock , hopefully they will issue you with an unregistered report which will give you some time to get your licence applied for , and won't cost you any money at the time.

If you have a BSS as you say , there's no problem with applying for a licence is there ? You could apply before you leave on your journey , and the resulting unregistered will be cancelled out :)

Don't lie to the lock staff , they have long memories.

I did say it wasn't cricket.
Same as it probably isn't cricket for the EA to charge a forum member joneses? For 6 months when he only had his boat on the thames for 2months and wasn't able to go anywhere in that 2months.even b1 thought that a bit rich.
What is the EA mantra these days, same as the pirates...take everything, give nothing back

Happy St George's day everyone:)

Happy St George's day everyone:)

Except providing facilities and maintaining the infrastructure for you as best we can with the limited funds available ?

Happy st George's day to you too

Have no intention of cheating the system, boat will be long-term at Penton Hook and I believe my brother (it's actually his boat) has already applied for the license.

Ps great news that he has got the licence organised since yesterday , that's good going , if only everyone was that good !

It does have twin enfield outdrives- quote 'no steerage at the best of times' is slightly worrying...

With two working it'll turn on a sixpence and glide into a tight mooring space, it took me a long time to get the hang of it but I was a complete novice when I bought her. They're lovely boats with a lot of potential, I don't know what the equivalent is in today's money but they must have turned a few heads when new.

Yes you did, was it the Polish thing, the Birchwood, Broom or Scand that had outdrives ?

Yeah, had outdrives too. I clearly stated 'Ninja skills on the throttle will be needed' however...

I think the Polish thing had an outdrive, and the Birchwood probably did, so that's two outdrives, but not twins, the Broom had two engines but not twins, the Scan I believe is Twins but probably shafts, that seems quite clear :)

Quite incorrect almost every time!!

The 'Polish' was 'Spanish' (Scarani was Italian, and Spanish) and the Birchwood was on a shaft....The Broom was obviously on a shaft+wing shaft, and the Scand (Scan!? Seriously!? LOL) is on a pair of Volvo TAMD40b's on shafts.

Why be scared of twin shafts, with only one functioning? There will be a way around the initial steering issues, as long as you have crew!!

Perhaps he means twin anchors....

This thread has taken on a life of its own....moved under its own steam earlier (the boat, not the thread) and is now on the back of a lorry heading for PH. Hope to see it tomorrow before it gets wet again to investigate outdrive issues.
