Having successfully pushed a worked colleague to the point of budgeting £150K on a newish 35-40 footer, he has decided he would like to look to keep in somewhere in the Greek islands.

Does anyone here keep theirs in Greece, or does anyone know the pros and cons of Greece vs. Spain for example.

Lousy for being stung for "TAXES" by Greek harbourmasters.
Otherwise beautiful.

Exactly what are these "taxes"? I've just spent a week cruising Rhodes-Halki-Niseros-Pserimos-Kos-Simi-Rhodes and never paid any harbour official anything. Nor were we asked to show our "papers" anywhere. Was in a Greek flagged boat though - perhaps that makes a difference.

urgh. Greece is miles away, and has awful toilet arrangements, probably much worse thanthey were 3000 years ago. Mind you, spain is a bit naff in (most) places, tho the bogs work.

Wherver you buy any new boat, keep it in that marina next to the dealer until the warranty is finished if poss, or until mosty warranty work is done anyway.
