I'd be amazed if your 43 was anywhere close to 18000kg.
Cranchi gave the weight as just over 11000kg from the factory.

If the boat was anywhere near Palma I would agree with that. I used to lose 5-6kts in as many weeks at the height of summer when I was moored in Club de Mar and I used to employ a diver to clean the props 3 or 4 times a season. Hull antifouling was never a problem but sterngear fouling certainly was

Anyone who can find a cost effective and reliable cure for sterngear fouling in the W Med would make a fortune

Reason --- if in dought have a look @ biology -100 of million years of evolution -sorts out what works
So if I spin up my props (2600 Nm of torque ) everything spins off -nice shiny metal around the hub.
So all that animal critter x 100 M years -washed off
So much so for there adhesion -if a critter can,t stick ---- what chance has mans got @ solving @ 21 st Centurary prob = Zilch
Any substance just spins off -as if a paint will work better than nature ?

In the shipyards they all leave sterngear -as is -plain -metal -I guess as Deleted User infers -you just arrange a scrub as and when , if if think ? It will help ??

Clean stern gear is one thing but how clean is the hull?

a barely perceptible brown slime in water is seen as fine hairs is enough to drop a couple of knots.

short weed will again drop a few more, etc,etc, etc

add dirty stern gear more drop.

i am under the impression that to keep a fast motor boat going fast in the med you need to pressure wash hull and clean stern gear every 4 to 6 weeks.

Personally I would not coat stern gear or IPS with anything just get it cleaned when you clean the hull.

Hello!

To all owner of a princess v48 ips600.

How fast or slow is the boat at cruising speed and top speed really with normal load of fuel and persons.

I had a sea trial in Mallorca with a v48 open 2015. The sea was a little chopy and the speed with full throttle was 22 Knots. Fuel tank full 80%. 4 Person on boat. The bottom was clean and antifouling from spring.

Is this normal?

It’s not the speed it’s what rpm it attained , if it wasn’t 3500 then there are problems.
