How far away do you keep your boat?

An hour'ish in the car, 45 mins at most on the bike. The average speed cameras in the Hindhead tunnel are a pain........

I live in Milton Keynes (so close to being the furthest you can get from the sea in England) and the boat is in Emsworth. Anything from 1.5 to 3 hours depending on route and traffic.

You must be shifting to do that in 1.5 hours!

I'm an hour's drive away from the boat in Portsmouth Harbour. Basically straight down the A3.

Winter stored 70 miles away-a bout one hour 15 mins up here.
BUT thats the problem with the Scottish coastline-its mooring at Plockton is about 45 miles-well under one hour

Home to Brixham to day took us two hours eighteen minutes. Distance being 122 miles.

We would not be over keen on having the boat all that close, as we also tend to treat it as a "holiday home".

Hearts and minds?

Now Zagato as the owner of a certified nice boat you should know that we keep our beloved vessels in our hearts and minds always - not so much as an arm's length away....:)

If you keep playin' with it it'll never get better...

1730 miles

That's how far my boat is. Avoiding delays and traffic jams (rare) takes 4 and 1/2 hours.

It's a long way but when there I'm almost always guaranteed all year round sun and warmth with good winds.

Having spent 16 mostly cold wet years in and around the Solent, (and that's just the summers) I am sure I can be forgiven for feeling very lucky and a little smug!

A long way

About 250m - metres. 200 walking and 50m row. If I tire on the journey there is a pub half way that provides suitable refreshments.

I can go by boat from the garden as well - but that is about 500m (the boat is on the other side of the peninsula). That seemed a long way so we got a rib - with a 60hp on the back to make that more manageable! Tough, I know.

We did have the last boat about 1 3/4 hours away for a while. But there was nothing more depressing than sitting in the garden on the few sunny days we get now watching boats leaving Port Edgar knowing that by the time we got to our boat the sun would most likely be away - if it was ever out there. So when the chance to put our own local mooring in came up, we jumped. The boat had to be replaced to something suitable for a drying mooring as well, but this suits us all much better.

Up to 2 hours for up 100 mile journey depending on route taken. Use to take nearly 3 hours 30 years ago. Distance / fuel cost / travel time / moorings fees / location are all take into consideration as far as I'm concerned.
