How do you store small bits of string?

I made up so hangers to hold all my bits of coiled rope short and long on my push pits

using boat cover clips

As everybody knows, especially on a sailing boat, small lengths of line are extremely useful. I was just musing as to whether there is a better way than coiling like this.

In a saloon locker where they indulge in a mating ritual and form a united mass. This saves me a lot of trouble as it gives me a reason to pop out and buy the actual right bit for the job.

I have no idea what you mean by insulation.

for small dock lines and the like, I thread them with a sling and hang them over a special non-snagging hook (you can hang several lines from one sling). The hooks are home-made, smoothed and curved over center to make them non-snagging and more secure.

For halyard tails I like United Yacht Manufacturing Button Line Holders. Totally non-snagging.

I do the same but my worm is a snake

I made a few of these things to keep coiled rope, they save me from my personal drama of making holes or glueing permanent things on the deck
