How do you spot a liveaboard or their boat?

Perfectly routine on canals. One rope at either end. It works.
Yes but its the big loop of polypropylene with no turn on the ring so it wears through half way down the line - that's assuming the UV degradation doesn't get to it first? I know lots of people tie up without springs, breast ropes etc - but no springs or breast ropes and just loop through the ring and let it chafe... They even have the line to different quarters of the boat just to make sure it chafes...

Yes, the narrowboat in the background definitely looks like a live aboard.

The chimney for the stove, and the plant pots set it apart from a holiday boat.
