I have had a complete cockpit seating and backs set made in the UK for my Sealine S37 and am looking at options to get it out to Spain.
I'm driving out in September and could fill the car then (if I'm lucky?) but would rather like to enjoy this summer with the new upholstery (I will be flying out then)
I've no experience of transport companies for private usage ...... any ideas?
Oh and by the way I have someone in Spain who will receive the goods.

I've taken boat cushions as hold luggage before now, bundled together and wrapped in polythene. EasyJet, for example, allow hold luggage if the length + width + height <275 cms. That means you can take some fairly bulky packages, as long as the weight is OK. They should be charged at normal rates as they're not sporting items.

Edit: If you do try it, book your outbound and return flights as two separate bookings, so you can get internet rates on the outbound hold luggage without having to pay for the return trip that you wont use

As above. I took a 106ltr water tank as hold luggage. Weighed just under 20kilos and the size wasn't a problem (although getting it on a busy train was fun!)

Just to end the story
The consignment was actually in two parts. The complete seat cushions and the seat backs which are stitched up into shape but will be fitted out in Spain, these only weighed 11 kg so £25 Ryanair hold luggage did it. The cushions I will take out by car later.
Just for info, although I'd already booked the Ryanair flights ( but not checked in) I could do a one way hold baggage.

Mike, I hope we can meet up in my windy corner of Spain when you're here. Just had a lovely morning in a bay but now absolutely teeming down.

Thanks again for all your replies

Little trick we play with Ryanair hold baggage.
We use cardboard boxes - the boxes weigh very little and work well for "one way" carriage (throw them away when we get there).
Most of the time we are taking "stuff" out there and not bringing it back.
At Bristol, we "check in" boxes just like bags but instead of them going "down the chute" they ask us to take them to an oversized baggage conveyor where they are scanned with us present.
After that, they arrive at the destination airport's oversized baggage reclaim.

Plan is now taking shape - leave SC on or around the 3rd Aug and head your way.
We have visitors on board for the first week so will probably have a couple of days in Barcelona (Port Vell if we can get in).
It looks like our target will be L'Estartit but nothing booked so if you have any better suggestions??????

We were in L'Estartit in March. Pleasant place but a lot of dusty seaside development going on which might be over by now.
Empuriabrava is manic in August so don't recommend it but Rosas is a good location and will take your size boat. There is a 21 marinas for 21 nights free thing going on (it's actually 1 night free in each marina) SC may be a part of the scheme. Worth asking.
We give August a miss but have a lovely time in I hope fair winds.

Our marina manager knows the manager at L'Estartit and they have said that they would prefer if we went after the end of June when they have finished developing the bigger berths in L'Estartit marina.
Thats what they said so maybe that is the dusty seaside development you are referring to.

Yep SC is part of the Catalan Ports Authority.
Berth holders (actual lease holders not berth renters) have access to various deals up and down the coast.
Actually, I think we are the furthest south.
Sometimes it is two nights for the price of one - other times it is one free night.
The deal is that you have to make your home berth available for free usage and I'm not sure I want that constraint.
We have our own fixed lines onto our pontoon and a dinghy dock that I wouldn't want disturbed.
Having said that, I will be enquiring what is being offered for Aug.

Can I ask how you went about sourcing your replacement did you bring your old set back to the uk as a template
The reason I ask I'm thinking of replacing mine ( Fairline T 37 ) boats in Portugal
recommendations appreciated

Yes, I'd be interested as well - the whole process - getting the old ones back - sourcing fabric - and the final solution.
We are "kind of" keeping ours going at the moment by using local contractors to do repairs as they crop up but someday, we will have to "bite the bullet" and get it done.

I use a company called Land & Marine based in Cannock luckerly just an hour from me in Brum.
They have all the old Sealine templates and have huge knowledge of how the upholstery was originally fixed in the Sealine factory which they have communicated to my man in Spain.
They can source all the original fabric which I wanted.
I handed over the pre stiched up fabric this morning to my man.
What could possibly go wrong!!!!!
Land and Marine may have done stuff for Princess and Fairline. The job will be done in my absence in the next six weeks.

I have a new dashboard helm going out to Barcelona this week in one of my crew cabs because Ryanair retard Custermer service muppet thought it was dangerouse

Hi.
Just seen your post
Do you have any idea how to remove the back cushions on a sealine? The look like they are glued on and I can’t see how to get them off

Hi.
No I have a guy here in marbella, spain who can make new covers. I just need to get the old ones off.
I could get yours done too. It’s what I do furniture and upholstery.
