How do I remove this socket.

Sounds as if you need to go for a referendumon -REFEXIT

Strange that your reply shows here - but did not on the actual post ??

You would be surprised how many over here are not so happy with EU ... prices shot up - salarys stagnated .... large part of workforce up and left ...

Its not all roses !!

It was never a big % to join when they held the referendum to join vote ... it would not surprise me if it was held again - vote would be to exit ! But damage has already been done ... who would want to come back ??

Anyway - my 'fed up' comment was to do with the electrical sockets over here ... we currently have more than 6 types ... with the metal tabs earth type dominant ... which often you struggle to get the plug in !!

At the risk of a ban
People always look for a scape goat and the EU is a convenient one, the world over is suffering economic hardship. The people of Latvia will be glad they are in the EU and a wider community if and when Mr Putin comes a knocking.
People also have short memories and should compare their relative standards of living before and after and against others that didn't couldn't make the choices they have. By and large former Eastern block countries that had a quick transition to democracy and now face internal exploitation should look to their own countrymen rather than some bogeyman outside for their problems.

Here endeth todays basic politics lesson, see you in 3 days or so.

Happy New Year to you both.

If you haven't got it off already, the designed method is as Wallacebob gives in post #7 above, but therer are, I believe, 2 small cut outs opposite each other I can see one if them in your photo of the user side of the socket. So 2 small screwdrivers and something underneath each screwdriver but near the socket ( you do have 4 hands, don't you?). You will have to lever a fair way (?1/2") as to get the spring clips over the hump, before that as soon as you release your levering, it will pop straight back in.

Please ensure shorepower is unplugged before you start the job.

For the replacement any 13 A socket which is not easily corroded in a marine environnment, and best fit a drywall type box, so there are not exposed 230 V. terminals in the space behind.

All the best from snowy Usti,

Peter.
Hi Peter
Returning the good wishes for the new year to both of you.
My apparent inability to deal with a simple issue is the sheer stupid position of the fitting. It is in the knee space of the chart table in the top corner almost against the hull side. However as it is seldom used until the winter dehumidifier plugs in I have no need to extend the wiring to a better location. I agree with the idea of including USB sockets so I may have to do some more hole cutting if I want to follow this up with a larger or additional faceplates
