Okay, I can make you all feel better, we tack through about 100 deg mag.
Did Falmouth to Dartmouth in 9 hrs, so who cares!
We care about pointing angle when we have to turn around and go back to Falmouth.
OK I race, but even for a cruising boat, I want something that goes well up wind. That said, when you tack through 100degrees, you can still make good progress if you are always on the better tack. But those passages where a cruiser-racer will lay the headland easily and the ketch will end up motoring, I'd prefer the cruiser-racer.
