The morning dawned bright,i sat up and sure enough large blue patches of sky where last night the stars had shone. It was just after 5am i put the kettel on to take the chill out of the fresh morning air.

Stella opened an eye then went back to sleep i kissed her and tucked her in saying id get the washing ready drank my tea and took my laptop to the wi-fi where once again i serched for a way to order a French sim online.

Orange has the worst site in the world its hard to find its pay as you go offers that seem to want 7€ a month which is not pay as you go.The moby card has so many opptions all cost 3€ or more a day???

SFR has a far better site but to order a card i MUST have a fixed phone in France and have been born there even if you get around that then it will be sent to the address of the fixed phone for 5€ extra or can be collected at a SFR center. The problem is the centers town and address is cut off!!!Its impossiable to find the address??

Tele2 a disaster i ordered one online last year when it arrive it wasent activated for 10 days then after only two weeks it was disconected??It also cost far more to get and use that SFR!!!

Anyone any idea how to get a French sim, afterall none of you "live" in France either it never used to be a problem??

By noe it was just after 6.30am and a weekend!Off to the cafe.As i came in a glass was put on the counter and a good white wine poured!Good morning wished all around while more slices of roast pork were cut to be eaten with still walm bread.

Today is the day the woman sleep in!!The cafe owners husband was serving!A great day as the sun breifly cameout and walmed the damp earth and us in the cafe.A second glass and would he mind if i pay at lunch time?OK so i had a third glass as today had begun so very well!

We bought an old wash board which Stella takes to the wash place if its still working and allowed, otherwise i walm 20 liters of water with an electric kettle takes a while,so thats what i did then stella came and began the wash which im now drying in a dryer so i still have another quarter hour.

She did look at me as if to say "what have you been up to" now i just have to hope my drinks are lister as coffee!!Costs the same. As i got up so early Stella had done our wash before the other woman and i got two dryers first! Now the bed things are arriveing.Stella was pleased as we have time to do other things while its dry so shes pleased with me its an even better day!I wonder if shell still go shopping??

Do you have any friends or relatives who are resident in France who can order the SIM for you and have it sent to their address and then post it on to you?, maybe the cafe owner? if you are there for a while.
Are you trying to make us envyous, with all this talk of sunshine and blue skies?

Yes it is possiable to give an address in France but i dont like to ask to many favors,i get my post and messages but to ask for the phone? The problem is on line they want to know almost your lifes history then they can get a better picture of you to aim advertising and of course when that infos passed on and built on you have identaty theift risk

I was hopeing there might have been a carfour or Darty card by now with less complications. As the eec has forced France to lower its prices they want customers to pay monthly and as useual have become gready asking just say 3€ a day or 100€ a month!! The euros a total disaster as no one realises just how expensive things really are

Orange is pushing its pay as you go card which costs 7€ a month every month then calls "only"cost 60cents/min i make almost no calls at all.I have a Swiss sim for which i recharge about twice a year for a total of less than 60chf or 40€ with that i get 60 free sms EACH month!! The 50/60chf goes mostly on roaming charges when say my son or daughter call me when they cant find me!The baltic contries have the same system but no free sms! Im useing sunrise which is a Danish company so i cant see why the French providers are soooooo expensive and difficult

I need it that later i can get call without paying roaming charges but as it is it may be better to give my swiss number though id rather keep it just for a few.

The sun!!Well yes its quite amazing! Its out again just now but the clouds are on the way and the forcast im told is for rain as normal next week if not by sunday.I thought the UK would have summer sun by now?As the rain should zoom over the UK and drop on the Baltic or northen Europe?Seems to have lost its way this year. Its amazing i have to take off my pullover but when the cloud blocks the sun it becomes quite cool, pully back again!

Most boats have some washing drying but everyones queing at the landry driers. As woman "know" what the weather will do with their washing its a good bet that as their all paying to dry that it will rain later.

Its just a great day!Stella went off with a girl friend shes met from another boat while i potter around cleaning the deck unblocking the drains(along the toe rail)She left 20€ credit at the cafe in case i want to go along for lunch! So i went along had a large salad with tap water, and reminded them to add the "coffees" i had this morning.Alls well!!

Ive also managed to adapt a wood screw and mole grips to cork remover, and am now enjoying a bottle of Satenay clos de malta this bottles a bit old from 1979 but still very very good.
From time to time i find a small shop with wine thats a bit old so could be no good then i buy as much mostly all they have left, normaly 15 to 30 bottles of mixed vintage and region.I opened a bottle of this satenay which was from the 1960s and it was still very good, just a bit thin but very good all the same and its great on the table.Drinking a real vintage wine! And wondering how life was then where ever i/we happen to be.

When Stella comes back ill say i was invited for a glass on one of the boats that just arrived!!Altogether a good day!

Now i just need a soultion to the phone question. It really shouldent be so dificult but that the French phone providers are just far to gready

Suns gone in,ah back again. Its just like aprill but cooler

Looked at the sites but they dont give easly findable cost just says i could easly save £250/300 in Spain and roaming charges are to high.

There was a mobile phone provider doing something like this from Latvia untill they vanished??

There were are companies selling sim cards,i remember a post about Italian data sim which was valid in all europe and the cards were for sale from other contries

I have the book mark but not on this laptop.

Mobile pay as you go sims are expensive to run in France, but only seven to ten Euros to buy initially. I had a Bougie SIM but the problem was it needed topping up every two weeks or it would cease, unless larger credits were purchased in which case the expiry was longer, about a month or two. I did not work out how to switch on data services with it as my French is not so good on the phone. I used the local internet centre which had a WiFi sevice for the same price as the PC's, around 1 Euro fifty cents per hour.
That was in north France.

I see you dont like Orange, but this seems to be the best sim if you want to use it for a bit of data aswell:

Seems France Telecoms are taking some time to catch up with other parts of Europe.
