Hey Mike, what on earth happened to you today? Prep'd the boat ready to go out and play in the lagoon, but didn't receive your DSC call! The VHF did pick up one DSC which I accepted but no reply? Sent numerous requests for your position and looked for you on AIS/radar all in vain!

I was going to tow your toys in the lagoon! I know JW might struggle a bit to get up to a decent speed!

Looks like they put you next to the fuel berth in Las Fuentes, they parked me just the other side of the quay when I was there last year, nice little marina!

Get the barbie out of course!

We were planning a short trip to a pub that's maybe an hour away by water. Phoned up to book a table and there's no chance, the place is packed all day. So instead were going pootling tomorrow. The weather is pretty good today (for a change) so we're going to get the Barbie out!

Weather surprising, Friday was a car day, short run to Port Solent boat show and Marine superstore, got a few bargains there too, had a look around a couple of Sealines, F43 and T46, def not for me.

Woke up Sat to sunshine so set off for Lymington, weather good, sea nearly flat, hooked up to between buoys in town to watch owner of t34 cast off,so we moved on to town quay, first time we have ever had chance to get on there.

Well after sat nights episode by the crew of the 2 yachts that were moored on to us never again will I put myself into a position of people walikng across my boat at all hours with no consideration at all, the 2 yachts that were from solent based sea schools didnt even put there own shore lines on, this was not on, my boat and our friends where just squashed together when the tide turned, the boat on the outer side of me, a motor boat ended up putting his lines out to the shore at 11.30pm.

Yesterday morning we watched the performance of 1 skipper and 6 crew trying to cast off, they took ages, we must have burnt 5 litres of diesel each waiting for them messing about exchanging ropes, fenders etc.

Its back on the trott moorings next time we go to Lymington.

Then off back to Port Hamble yesterday to meet up with friends for a great meal in the Italian on Hamble village square, and rounded the night off in the bugle meeting up with Rex Harvey an his family, he was a bitted pissed and said I look like F1s Adrian Newey??? dont know about that one.

This morning back to our new Berth on the upper hamble.

Following our successful sea trial last weekend (cheers VolvoPaul) we managed to get out and take our new S28 back from Hamble to Poole.

Broke the journey up with squeezing into an overnight in Yarmouth and then onto Poole. Got a bit lumpy after rounding the North Head buoy when heading back out SW to miss the Christchurch ledge so had to slow down til we got more into Poole Bay and a bit of shelter.

Safely ensconced in new berth at Cobbs Quay now and thanks to everyone who caught our lines over the windy weekend

We were in the Bugle on Sunday night too! Sorry that I didn't get a chance to hook up - we had a very nice weekend on the Hamble - pics to follow later.

Was this on Monday? If so we can't have been too far behind you as we came back from Hamble to CQ Monday morning/lunchtime. Hurst was fine but then we found it lumpy all the rest of the way back too. Hope that you got a chance to enjoy a bit of the sunshine.

Well the weekend wasn't as bad as the weather men would have had us believe, but a lot of people seem to have stayed home as the water was very quiet.

We decided to take our chances with it, and as mentioned in my OP severely curtailed what we planned to do and just headed from Poole to the Hamble on Saturday. Friday had been a washout, but I spotted what looked like a window Saturday morning. The skies were grey but the sea state wasn't too bad, apart from at Hurst where it was very confused and lumpy. Once we were through it calmed down a lot and I was able to get a good cruising speed all the way up the Solent.

The trip was pretty uneventful - this the view across to Cowes from the mouth of Southampton water.

We did meet this big lady coming out as we were going in.

The rest of Saturday was not good - in fact I'd say it was pretty poor. I visited the chandlery and bought myself a new waterproof cruising jacket it was that bad!

Sunday was a very different day though - here are a few pics just to prove to John and Mike that you didn't have to go all the way to the Med to get a little sunshine when out on the water.

A lot of people were either out or not back in the water yet after their winter lift outs. Port Hamble seemed half empty most of the weekend. This didn't stop a couple of hapless skippers getting it badly wrong in the wind and mangling theirs and others boats while trying to berth. It's a great spectator sport when you're already safely ensconced in a snug spot. :D

The fuel pontoon was a complete scrum all weekend, so I was glad not to have to tangle with that having filled up before we left.

We left Port Hamble with the last of the ebb Monday morning intending to stop at Totland Bay for lunch, but with the grey skies in the Solent and forecast for moderate seas we scratched that idea and headed straight back towards Poole. As we passed out of the mouth of the Hamble we spotted this poor blighter who'd run aground. Any other contenders for worst or most embarrassing spots to get into trouble? This has to be one of the most humiliating places for it to happen given the amount of passing boats in this spot.

We had an easy passage off Hurst at slack water, but it then got very lumpy off Hengistbury and stayed like it all the way across Bournemouth Bay. However, just as we got back the sun emerged from the clouds and it turned into a fab day. Hardly anyone at Studland either, despite the sunshine and calm conditions there, so no competition for a mooring buoy. We stayed out til quite late and thoroughly enjoyed the whole weekend overall.

Well we had a good weekend, decided to make the most of a moments calm at 3pm on Saturday and make our way down through the swellies to Port Dinorwic.

The run down was pleasant and sun even started shining. Decided to take a mooring bouy at Cable Bay just south of Port Dinorwic. A very pleasant evening and good company. Truth be known our 1st night staying out at sea.
See picture, water was like glass, until a little swell at 4am.
Leasurely crusie back up to Conwy on Sunday afternoon.
No one in the marina believed us when we got back.

Thanks Dennis for having the insight to go out and hard luck to those that
didn't get out this Easter.

Yes we left as soon as the sun came out late Monday morning so enjoyed the sunshine on the way down - if not the sea state. We headed straight to Poole Quay to get our legs back with a walk into town to Pizza Express for lunch. The missus needed a glass of wine! Then onto CQ on the 4.30 bridge lift, was that you guys in the Targa behind us?

Ha ha glad we didn't mess up docking at the fuel berth with you watching!

Cool, will give you a shout next time we're in Yarmouth and we'll have a cold one in the fridge for you. Jenny can fill you in on how much she enjoyed the trip across Poole Bay!

Hi Richie

Yep that was us! We followed you all the way back to CQ - you were brave cutting the corner around the SHM at the entrance to CQ. Nice boat! Maybe catch up for a beer sometime when the weather is better.

Well it sounds like at least some of you had a good time over Easter back in blighty! Well done.

We are packing up our Targa 34 now ready for the new owner to collect her next week. I have already placed a holding deposit on my next boat, all will be revealed soon, will be taking a good look at her this weekend!

Will I miss Buster? Well she has been a really great boat, solid and well behaved. My next boat will have a top end closer to 25 knots and a cruising speed nearer 20! But it will be nice to look down from upon high........ So am I sad, well what do you think....

You're gonna miss that visceral surge of adrenalin you got when you opened up from 2500 to WOT and suddenly you're flying!! Usually to cross ahead of a Red Funnel ferry or similar. Speed junkie? Me? Bang to rights! :D

Phantom 43's do squash waves quite well though.
