Hottest day of year ?

Went out for a couple of hours in the dory from Penton, fairly busy but not mad.

Some dodgy Hardy turned in front of me just by Chertsey Lock no sound signals ..... Took an age for him to wave as well.

Got shouted at for going too fast in a cut, despite being on tick over I guess if you are in a sports boat then you automatically get shouted at... Well guess what some of us actually know what we are doing and they should be thankful my daughter was in the boat.......

Also never seen so many swimmers in the Thames not just lads on the bank but plenty of boat owners too.

Sorry for not recognising you -used to seeing you in the rib.
After turning stopped at Laleham for a leisurely lunch but spoilt by many boats passing too close and too fast - one speedboat in particular with tail dug in and probably ten knots plus. Shouts from several boats to slow down attracted a dual digit response. What is it with these people?

Don't worry I like to maintain my disguise !

There were a few out today ... Went for a run when we got back through Richmond now that was full of nutters all going fast !

We went to Hurley this weekend, moored in the pool behind the lock. Hot hot hot, but a great weekend. One thing that was a bit nasty though..... Lights on in the boat at night and the window turned green with thousands of tiny flying bugs some of which got inside the boat even inside the lights. I became the tea towel killing machine while the kids refused to get on the boat. :D Hoping next weekend is good too.

Glad you had a good weekend..............it certainly was mega hot. We spent part of Sunday "practicing" in the very loosest sense , for the boat handling comp................guess who was on the anchor ( no windlass !)
Dont think it will help though............Appollo will say there are too many fenders in the way !!
You should have a go in the lady skippers class.........;)

It doesnt look good weather wise at present, so Isuggest wellies, etc , that should ensure fine weather.

Wondered where all you fender uppers were.

Good luck, lets hope its not another TMYC white wash

Awesome weekend, double header party Saturday, annual marina hog roast with band late arvo, then afternoon/ evening party with a good friend and fellow forumite after marina do. Had a lovely cruise up Saturday to moor up, great having friends living on the river, then friends of ours took us back to our marina by boat for hog roast. A couple of hours there then taxi to second party just in time for the second party of the day with the second band, a breat band i must add, followed by karaoke, brill! Said host then supplied us with an energising brekkie to overcome hangover then off to Laleham where amazingly we managed to find a mooring near the duty free bond store joint, where an invigorating swim got rid of the last of my hangover! I think I saw the speed boat thingy with bow pointing in the air going excessively fast, but couldn't be arsed to complain, plenty of wash but not enough to really move the boats around, just makes you wonder though what these people are on, honestly, don't they think it a bit odd they are leaving everyone else behind, they can hardly see where they are going, and a rather significant wash out the back... Best weekend of the year so far, a long time coming! Glad to hear everyone had a great time as well!! :))

Unfortunately when you do get idiots in speed boats going too fast those in speed boats that obey the speed limit (as in me...) get shouted out for no reason..

Oh and I wont mention the steady stream of large Brooms and Fairlines that opened up at Laleham just to please the kids in the canoes who asked for it....

Still good day though..

I am intrigued as to why you refer to large Brooms and Fairlines but chose to describe my CLB as a dodgy Hardy

Are you were not going fast.....I had to say Dodgy Hardy, it was the only way of getting your attention..

What I did not mention was they were all very old and tired Brooms and Fairlines, not shiny Hardys....Does that work?!

Can you tell I have a chip on my shoulder about being told to slow down....! I should have just put it in reverse that would have been the only way to go any slower...Obviously this is not aimed at you!

Not so much a chip on shoulder but more righteous indignation? I have suffered the same and have found copious applications of malt vinegar are gradually leading to a thicker skin !

Mind you, I have even been shouted at by ramblers who seemed to be incensed that I had the audacity to actually disturb the surface of the water

ah yes.....I know 'em: the ones with the gingery beards and corduroys, sandwiches in greaseproof paper and with checkered flasks of vegetable soup. Same buggers who complain about us dog-walking on the Thames Footpath....

As long as you don't use one of those stupid leads that stretches for 100 feet in front of you tripping up everyone, I don't mind....
