If it's broken it's broken. What Paul was saying was effectively wiggle it back and forth and it might free up. The test is whether water comes through hot when it's set to hot. If not then remove or replace, but go to a plumbing store not a chandler. The part should be a tenner and fits using standard threads usually. Removing is actually slightly harder since you'd have an open cold feed that would need sealing off
