Re: yes oh yes

Quite right. Mrs P should be helping to solve this problem, not leaving it to poor Mr P: "Okay, now, take the wellies off!" FIZZ "No no! - let go of the side rails!" BZZZZZZZ. And so on.

Re: yes oh yes

Having read this thread, wife now feels that this method of testing is unacceptable. This view was expressed in a long outburst of expleetives which included the offer of long term exposure to intensive care food for myself. IMHO a totaly unreasonable attitude. Seems I have a lot of testing to do before the supply of tea & sandwich's etc. resumes. She also feels that her efforts on the hull polishing front should be mentioned. What a little treasure she is. Please, no comments about buried treasure.

Re: section d

Thanks for for the tips I'll certainly be investigating in more depth now. A new breaker is already on the list of jobs just incase the old one it tired. There seems to be several differing views on the grounding of the electrical systems on the boat. But I shall be contacting the manufacturers this week to find out how she was originally wired up. Maybe by returning everything to ground zero I can cure the problem.

Thanks again

ChrisP ;-)

Re: yes oh yes

When Mrs P starts to work as hard as I do on the boat, then she can start receiving praise. Until then, perhaps we could try to persuade her to get out of bed before 1pm - that would be a start.

Re: yes oh yes

I look forward to hearing her reply to you. Although I shall be standing a good distance away. She may try to jog your memory by asking who had a McDonalds big breakfast washed down with champers and orange in bed, whilst complaining about how much noise the yard crane driver was making.
Be afraid. Very afraid. I know I am.

Re: McDonalds Big Breakfast

Ooh. But isn't it miles to McD's from Brighton marina? Or was that somewhere else? Incidentally, I can recommend Cannes marina McD-wise. Lovely beach restaurant whilst the kids (and PaulineB) can nip off to McD for a Royale with Cheese.

Re: section d

Seriously, I have a friend who owns a factory, and is being sued, by Health and Safety, because a member of staff (the Safety Officer), climbed over all the protection stuff put in place, all with signs saying don't do this danger etc, but did, put hands around sign saying don't put hands here, and has lost fingers. It may be a jail sentence for the owner, through no fault of his own.

Re: section d

Under the new HSE laws there is a clause where the individual has a responsibility for his own safety. Good lawyer should be able to proove that the owner has taken all reasonable precautions to minimise the risk as evaluated by the risk assesment for that particular machine. If guards etc are dissabled and there is an accident providing the owner can demonstraight that the guards, training and supervision was suitable for the assesed risk he should get off with a fine. If he is lacking in this area either the factory safety officer, or in the absence of the safety officer needs to take more notice of the regulations that apply to the safety at work including the proceedures to ensuer that employees do not override safety interlocks and guards. You just want to hope that your friend wasn't stupid enough to operate machinery without a risk assesment and fully interlocked guard systems fitted and regularly inspected and maintained.

I regularly test the electrical safety of the systems on the boat by getting the wife to touch them. This way I'm fully protected from the danger of electrocution.

Re: McDonalds Big Breakfast

I went in the car and MrB presented the breakfast to pauline (i'm not brave enough to enter her cabin without an armed sabre tooth'd tiger).
