Today ive been inventive and made a shower!! Thanks to this forum i have a bath on board. A showers nice and better in summer.

I saw at the DIY shop, half price No1 gargen bags 7.90 euros! Haveing tried it for size in the shop given it a lot of though i invested 7.90 euros. Back to the boat opened it, the strong coil spring turning it into a large bin over 1 meter high.

Searched the boat for my spare small bilge pump (thats the problem with haveing such a big boat!It can at times hard to remember where i put somthing)Cut a piece of hose to size clip on a shower head fill bin with water and try.

Succsses a good strong shower! i can stand under it for as long as i want (or untill the water cools down)Wash my hair and rince it overbord then soap rince in the recycled water!!! ( i havent tried washing in it yet!As theres a free shower nearby) Its great!!It seems to work!Far to cold tonight to try it!Perhaps tommorow after lunch when the suns nice and walm??

Development planed! I have a spare pressure switch water pump. Open a tap as the pressure reduces the pump cuts in close tap it stops! The plan is to fix this pump in the cockpit and have two pipes one comeing into the bin attached to a bildge scoop which ill stand on to keep it under water.

For the outlet ill lead a pipe to a whale tap (cos ive got one somewhere)Then have the shower hose with shower head to a boom fitting fill bag with hot water stand in bin switch shower on trying not to slash and loose water to much.As the water cools (after quater of an hour???)turn shower off apply soap the rince!

Hopefully clean & relaxed, dry cockpit and sit down with glass of wine and an apperative (made befor!)

Seems perfect!! In summer when at anchor for a few days i can fill with water then waddel like a ships bowser out to the anchorage and have showers just like all the others there!!! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

You are a genius! You should offer to write for Yachting Monthly, or perhaps PBO would be more appropriate.

Send them a couple of your posts for free, then tell them they will have to pay if they want any more. I think you should get a monthly column out of it.... the bread, the shower, the sails flappin' about etc. etc..

I think there arnt many sailing as i do!In poverty hunger& improvisation! These days everyone has a Baveria or other such! And an income of £800.000 pa. Im liveing on £11.8s.4pence a week!

I did ask if social services would rehouse me to for example a HR36 or moody but it seems im not qualified! To much income and wrong religion(their not affraid.)

As for PBO the last mag a saw was date jan 1990 (saw it a couple of days ago)i take it its not published any more

As for other mags id have to have gone around the world in 80 days or crossed the Atlantic in and hour and a half! For that id have to buy a catermeran

My only contributions are those that find ways to econamise without compremising comfort. France being the most backward contry anywhere as regards internet conection i took a wanadoo abonament and can accsses the internet at any cafe/phone im allowed to use! (inventiveness) shower (practical i felt like a shower while on the islands)

Bread! well not everyone knows about bread mix?????

Are you unhappy with the mag or me???I think ive said something wrong? /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

I look forward to your posts, and enjoy every word. I LMAOROF at your description of your shower, and think it should be available to a wider audience.

/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gifThats ok! I thought??well it ok!

I am sailing on a buget! This summer i had two reporters aboard ( as i had two summers befor and before that both were wanting images and my life story the first i put overboard with the rubbish).

The second ive seen often. This time i let him aboard he took photos but dident ask anything other than my email address my boats name (cos he knew he wouldent get more) he sold his story and unlike others before him emailed me to say i was in print!!

Journalists are mostly immoral, corrupt, and lie,and when you read their report you wonder why they botherd to ask anything, they have your basic details and the rest they just make up? They ask you some questions you answer its just a routen. Theyve writen what their editer wants to hear before comeing aboard

Then they rush off to take a first class flight to their next assigment once theve checked into a first class hotel and had a first class lunch.

What of the subject? The subjets waiting untill the market closes to collect a few scraps of salad perhaps some vegitables as well as some not to bad fruit,And hopeing that the crew cleaning up a boat have dropped some old lengths of rope in the bin that i can replace some baggy wrinkel and make a new fender.

You REALLY Should get all this down people who like us in the REAL world would read it or indeed buy a copy But then you would be in the first class hotel having lunch with your publisher and securing your next advance ....OOPS lack of credibility as Buget voyager sinks with your next glass of vintage wine......Keep up the good work and dont forget the Shower Diagram .....

Re: Hot&Cold running water shower on a Folkboat with a tap!!

You're great value, trouville. I can just imagine you in the DIY shop 'trying out the garden bag for size'. It's a good line as well on a Folkboat, "Searched the boat for my spare small bilge pump". It must be a VERY small! Well done, mate! Keep it coming - and I note that Pop lent you a couple of commas!
