Finally got settled into my new berth over Easter and started to get to know a few of the neighbours and visitors, many of whom own MB's. What startled me was the number of people who have been "ripped off" by the dealers etc who say they will do things and never do. One example was a one year old Chapparal 260 Signature, delivered to the berth on Good Friday. Dealer staff conveniently took a large chunk out of his gelcoat on the rear bathing platform, no apologies. No hand over of the vessel, a list as long as your arm of things that need sorting, rectifying, all outstanding since last year. All this for just under £60k.

Others speak about jobs being "done" but no evidence of the work, bad workmanship etc. There were lots of other gripes etc, too many to mention.

Is this normal or is it just a rogue dealer? If you spent the same money on a car they would be falling over to give good service. Should we be having a list on the forum to warn others?

Scary stuff.

Yes it is normal, when my boat was new it had many problems - minor at that but still very frustrating when you think about the money spent. One thing that comes to mind, my duoprops - one blade was bent, however Sealine did sort this out without fuss.
