Horrible weather in the solent.

went out around 11:00 and solent was showing a force 5 but the chop was fairly small. @ 2 Hunton's running down to New town Creek at 40 knots :encouragement: Left there around 3 and blast up to Cowes and back to Southampton.

What a fab day, And even the M27 was open in both directions already , Sorry you missed some great boating

It was dreadful, took the family for a very gentle tootle up the top of the Hamble for a picnic, later went on a solo loop out to Osborne bay by which time the beer in the fridge had reached the correct temperature.. then ran back to the Hamble with the wind behind and set a new best speed.

Not a bad day.

If it's any consilation, the eastern end of the Solent had a F4 easterly blowing up a quite a big swell. Our plan was to anchor at Whitecliff Bay (this was a bad plan I know given the Easterly wind but I thought I'd give it a try). There was no one anchored in either Priory Bay or Whitecliff bay. It was far too rough to anchor so we gave up. Shame as it was such a hot sunny day. The western end of the Solent was quite calm I heard which scuppered many of the RTIR participants. It blew quite hard all day in Pompey until the evening.

nice chop built up late Sunday afternoon heading back from Cowes, wind had got up a bit, had to tack up towards Beaulieu and then run down to Calshot surfing all the way, had some guests aboard, one slept the whole way back in the cockpit, the other 2 were oblivious to the lumpy sea & quite happy.... already decided they can come again.
