I sold my honda EU20, as it was never really required apart from Rally lighting!

Never miss it, Four large batteries seem to last for ages! I use both pairs*, rather than just the leisure batteries, as 480 A/Hr can take a fair old hammering.

*I would take a jump pack if on a long journey as a precaution of course

You certainly didnt need a jump start as you gracefully passed us about 4 ish yesterday. Glad you didnt see the need to intervene in what may have appeared to be a boat in trouble. In fact, it was us practicing for the ATYC ..............still in trouble I hasten to add !!! even after a few hours practice.

i bought a KIPOR from ebay. 900 watts, 200 quid. Works fine , very light. Wont run the immersion but will get you out of trouble.

Only saw one boat in trouble, and fixed it.

Small boat broke down in lock stream at Cookham, so towed it into the River, hopped on board whilst towing it, and discovered the fuel vent was still done up tightly.

Got it going and hopped back on No Regrets with the towline, waved farewell...

All at 3mph....

do you run the generators 'on deck' to provide for air and cooling or would it be feasable to install one in a sound insulated (but still ventilated) locker so the neighbours would be even less bothered by the racket ?

Yes, but I wouldn't run a petrol engine anywhere other than the bank or bathing platform!!! I have a six year old kipor - ultra reliable, ultra cheap. Perhaps noisier than a Honda, but only marginally. Ran one alongside a friends eu2 at henley two years ago and it was negligible. Incidentally, whose gennie do you think got stolen?

Sensible advice is one is to avoid turning the hull into a bathtub full of carbon monoxide in still air conditions.
