Having baught a workshop maual from e-bay I need to get to the clutch. The broblem is that the bolts holding on the exhaust flange are so coroded that they cruble with a spanner. Any ideas how to remove the bolts or can the clutch be accessed without removing the exhaust flange?

Sorry to ask, but what's the issue with the clutch?

I had one of these, massive Honda fan, but swapped it for a older Honda 4 stroke 2hp as didn't get on with centrifugal clutch and air cooling on the BF 2.3hp, let alone the noise and vibration....!!!

on the BF2 you can get it all off without having to remove the exhaust - just wiggle the housing past the exhaust - don't try when it's hot!!

If I want to remove the engine from the leg, to get to the clutch, dont I need to leave the exhaust attached to the leg and take the engine off the top?

no - drain the oil out, remove the fuel tank and turn it upside down - you then remove the leg, then the clutch housing from underneath (now on top)
