Honda 2.3's been swimming - Falmouth

Yes i know it's been done to death here. But who do we use in Falmouth area to get it running again? It wasn't running when it decided to go swimming. Cheers.

The first piece of advice seems counter-intuitive. To vest protect all the components, the best thikng you can do is submerge it in a bin of fresh clean water until you can find someone to work on it, it will stop the salt from attacking it. If you want to, after a good soak and sluice, up end it and drain out all the fuel and oil (take the spark plug out) and then spray everything with WD40, inside and out to prevent rusting. It is a good idea to get to the ignition coils and such like with the WD40 too.

If unsure, just submerge it until you have found a repairer.

Not being local, I can't help with a Falmouth outboard man.

My choice would catch water taxi to Falmouth Yatch Brokers in Penryn. Taxi can land approx 2.15 hrs before /after LW Falmouth on Fyb pontoon ,Fyb very good engineers. If not then 1/2mile level walk RobinCurnow. CM have moved inland to ind estate, You could also try Nick Eady on 07968 2142276 he operates mobie on the water repairs he might be able to collect from you and take it to his workshops

Many thanks. Carb drained and refilled. Everything rinsed and dried. WD40 everywhere. She fired up again! Phew. Let's hope it stays that way. Actually it's not me on board but I am coordinating the repair from home! Seems we have cracked it. We'll call others if necessary.

Not yet but I have taken the point and warned those on board that it should be done. Hopefully there's some suitable oil there. I'm pretty sure there is. I gather it was only a quick dunking while still attached to the rubberdub so hopefully not as serious as I first thought (total immersion/sinking).

Mine was underwater for about an hour when some scrote tried letting the avon down in Yarmouth IOW to make it easy to remove the bracket but then scarpered. I did all the rinsing & wd40 etc but got nothing from the coil, so I had to go to Cowes to get a new coil and have it flushed out. By the time I got it home to Poole it would have been a lost cause.
Its been OK since.
