Hi, I,ve had my honda 2.3 laying on its side ,( the correct side), for a week, then found it leaking oil . Stood it up for a while and it came out the leg. Do you think the sump emptied out through the carb, then down the leg. It has been fine for months till now . Is this normal?

Mine leaks when laid on its side as well.

Same here. I’ve also noticed that when people change the engine oil, they often end up overfilling it because the old oil takes a long time to drain and not everyone waits long enough. That extra oil then tends to leak out. It’s worth checking the level properly. After I changed mine and set it exactly to the correct mark, the leaking reduced significantly.

Mine did the same when hung up in the garage,
Good excuse to drain oil and refill.
Use any good quality fully synthetic suitable for the job,genuine Honda was a bit expensive , purchased exactly the same product from Ebay.
Was going to simply fill using a budget generic 5-30W oil but apparently it needs not to cause problems with the auto clutch ?

My Honda 2hp has a small witness mark under it where it has dripped fluid on the garage floor, the engine is upright on a stand, it is not from the leg so will have to have a further look to see what and where, just noticed it when out checking the solar panel readings.

Used the same. Good oil. I also did the leg oil change. It was black!
