home made auto pilots

I am trying to get hold of fibre or nylon cogs about 3 or 4 inches diameter and about 1/2 inch thick to link a trim tab to an auxiliary tiller. I guess that there is probably a domestic appliance which uses something of this nature, but I am having trouble finding it. Can any body help me out please?

Meccano kits have plastic cogs in them. Not sure how big you can get them. They also might be a bit thin but you could always stick 2 together.
