We noticed at the end of last season that the airdeck of our Lodestar dinghy was slowly losing air so I now removed the deck for closer inspection. I haven't yet tested it with dishwashing liquid but the culprit seems to be the valve as I can hear it making a hissing sound. The valve is one of these:

I'm guessing from the the two holes on the rim that it can be unscrewed for maintenance but I was wondering if anyone has experience with these and could help with some maintenance tips. For instance are they serviceable in the first place or should I just search for a replacement?

Thanks!

sometimes a few drops of washing up liquid smeared on the rubber face/valve seat does the trick. worth a try before taking the valve out

Might just be a few grains of sand stopping the rubber flap sealing properly, see if you can clean it in situ, compressed air may do it.

Thank you for the tips, gents!

Did a search on the forum, but omitted youtube. Lol, yes, maybe the last thing I would associate the music with :).
