I've got a 9 tonner and they are beautiful. Look at the Hillyard owners website

Probably worth trying to find one modified to become self-draining if you plan to go far, I have heard.

I have Dalrymple, a 1966 12 tonner.... Grew up with Hillyards, a nine tonner, a 13 tonner (extended twleve) and now my own 12. I think that says it all. However.. there are areas of weakness as with any timber boat but a good survey should point you in the right direction. Look for sheerplank decay, deterioration caused by anodes, localised decay in the stern hood ends caused by copper fastenings touching the scarf bolts (ferrous), mast glue line failure. I might even know her if you can let me know her name.. I would be happy to tell you more if you Email me.

Believe what John tells you if anybody knows how they Hilliard should be built its him. He owns probably the best of Hilliard about today, then he should do when you consider what he does for a living!
John by the way how is Symbol, hope to be down weekend after next ?
