High river flows again....

They are kidding about the narrow boat thing . Some get the hump because they get a cheaper deal just visiting the Thames and taking up all the mooring space but thats life .

No, they don't get a cheaper deal, they pay the same as any other visitor, or "resident" annual user. The exception is a deal for visitors to the IWA national rally at Beale Park over the August BH weekend, where there could be up to 600 (probably 350+) LTTTs congregating.

Come along open to all; a huge real ale bar; lots of non-boaty events, multi-ethnic foods, and possibly a chance to have-a-go at the EA.

Definitely not ALL about narrowboats.

I digress.

Agree about the mooring issue.

I think the elephant in the room is more about the fact that NBs tend to be long distance cruisers and see the whole river. That's because their boats are rigged for comfort in all weathers ('cept for the helmsperson who always gets wet), and you're all jealous:-

  • Comfortable hot showers,
  • central heating,
  • full size beds,
  • cookers with ovens
  • fridges
  • freezers
  • radio, hifi, satellite tv.
  • decent sized loos,
  • wood burning stoves

Anyway i dont think ive ever said i had a problem with the NBs . They dont effect me as i can squeeze into most shallow and small gaps or just moor along side . Its those Hooray Henrys with thier gin palaces that do all the moaning :D

I hope you don't think I was having a go at you; I was just adding to the views on this thread

I couldn't possibly comment!!

It's all good fun innit?
That's until someone misinterprets the thrust (tends to happen on other YBW fora) and gets the hump. At that point I go away....
