I have dealt with Nick before and have to say he is first rate. He was sailing when I called him, and he still took the time to sort out what I needed to do to ensure the engine would keep running OK.

"nothing that cannot be fixed on these" - this is the absolute truth!. Someone dropped one off that was totally siezed and had not run for years. It took Nick an afternoon to sort it out!

Just be sensible, with it being petrol. As long as the fuel lines are in good condition, there should be no issues.

Regards

Carl

I'm sure Tom C will explain all in his jargonbuster column next month.
E.g.

"seadbkeep"- to fill a boat with a mixture of diesel, old socks, and stale Fray Bentos in order to create an authentic and homely atmosphere. As in "I am going to seadbkeep my boat this weekend."

£360 seems an awful lot for just launching a boat that size. Even for a Solent area yard. Would expect it to be nearer a third of that! .... or less!

Original eBay said it was located on Hayling Island. Do the yards there really charge that much ?

If he is not careful, having bought the boat via eBay he will now be racking up the charge for storage ashore which could be £100 per month, at least

that is possible which is why I said, "for just launching.". May be the storage since he bought it + the launching fee

He does say £360 altogether ....sort of indicating that it includes other charges . doesn't seen too bad ,in boating terms

How do we know the vendor didn't tell him a porky about the boatyard not charging or fees being paid for 6 months etc.

Boating seems to be an area into which people will jump and buy without doing any research.

In motorsport (for instance) most people would immerse themselves in the subject and find out what's involved.
Probably the same with shooting or horseriding.
