Hi all I’m new to the forum I’m currently on the hard is sunny Wisbech marina just about to do a full refit on a ohlson 38ft I believe she spent a long time on the south east coast but not to sure.
She has all the fine attributes to make a good boat.
I’m on a budget and doing all the work by my self and help off of family
Anybody else has a ohlson 38
Thanks

The most famous Ohlson 38 was 'Robertson's Golly' sailed by Clare Francis. Saw it once down on the South Coast.

I considered an Ohlson 38 for a non stop single handed circumnavigation but noted Clare's comment that the rudder didn't have enough bight and being dependent on wind vane steering decided against it.

To be fair I’ve moved her on engine up the river she punches heavy tide wonderfully, however Claire is right. Turning in short spaces is and can be a bit of a hardship. Definitely will need a bow thruster when I win the lottery.
