Hi Folks,

Hope to be visiting Heybridge Basin and lock in . Wondered what facilities may be available such as topping up drinking water.

Any other general advice will be much appreciated.

Many thanks

Rob

Ring the lock keeper in advance to check two things:
That there isn't a large group booked in for the day you want to go as you will rafted up
If you have young children with you and need to be alongside then request this. They can leave you in the lock overnight - the water level is high in the lock.
Ask what time the lock-in will be as it varies in relation to HW depending on tidal height.

Decent loos and showers, water and leccy. Two pubs but no shops except by heading up the canal. Best food in the Jolly Sailor.

Grant is the Lock Keeper. A very nice, helpful chap.

There is a fresh water hose just aft of TG (the white wooden MAB). There is another one just out of view to the left, and this side of the basin there is another water hose. This side there is what looks like a toilet thingy hose thingies - what do you call them? Never seen it use but then I only go there at the beginning and end of the season.

Don't know your draft but if it's shallow then you can ask to go thro into the canal itself where you can moor amongst the rushes and trees - and away from the main footpath which is on the stbd side.

There is plenty of depth in the basin unless you have an unusually deep keel.
Nicer to moor on the side opposite the pub. Near showers/toilets, away from pub noise If they are busy you could be rafted 2 or 3 deep.
