But how do you put a face to an SB title unless you've been off to C/bourg or summat ? Should you all wear corporate-type labels with your SB name ?!

Went to the show Thursday; didn't knowingly meet/see any forumites, because you don't publish pics of yourself. (Neither do I, no prob.) So, next public event, maybe there should be a sign under which Forumites could meet up and discover each other?
Alternatively, should we give our mobile phone nos via pm's?
Sadly, I would love to have actually met another forumite. Still don't really believe you are real.

Becky, on the Cherbourg trip some one organised name tags.
Alternately, it is possible to have your boat name or any other
enblazoned on a tee shirt or hat for all to see.

Mind you there is a downside.
Peeps recognised me and said
"Ahh, Mirabriani, you're the one with all the sexist comments"

I'm sure I do not know what they mean.

Regards Briani

Come to the Mercury meet in May that we have every year. Great chance to meet up with forumites from all the ybw forums and spend the weekend or just the evening meeting and socialising with them

Brendan What generally happens at the mercury meet?Is it a weekend cruise away or a party near the marina somewhere?

Do people generally bring partners or is it more of a boys on the pi$$ event?

It's all of those. Many people come by boat, some start on Friday night with a stay at Yarmouth (IoW), then some boaty peeps meet somewhere on boats Sat lunchtime, then onto Mercury in the afternoon (stinkies and raggies alike)

Sat evening is a big hot buffet in huge marquee, and bar, at Mercury Marina on the Hamble - some people come by car for this alone, and stay at hotels or B&B.

The whole lot is sponsored by MDL, they put in £800 towards marquee and food, and provide zero cost moorings for the night in Mercury for attending boats. Usually over 35 boats, and 160 people (families and kids welcome).

Sunday people often head for The Ferry up from Cowes if they are able to rise for lunchtime

Probably about £25-£30 per head for adults, and less for kids, but full details of this years meet not yet arranged.

We also ask for charitable donations equivalent to the cost of mooring your boat for the night as it's provided free (or more if you wish), which goes to the Hamble Lifeboat charity - last two years we have raised a very tidy sum for them

It's a great event, and everyone gets to meet all sorts of other forumites

All sounds good. Ill keep an eye out for the details .

Nice gesture by MDL even better if the Lifeboat benefits out of it also. See you there with a bit of luck.
