You get to choose your focal distance. For short sighted people used to wearing glasses the recomendation seems to be about 12in. This means you can drive and read à restaurant menu in good light without glasses. For long sighted people à longer distance is recommanded. They dont seem to want to do one eye longer sighted than the other here.
In the USA they will want to put in à toric Lens. This basically has two diifferent focal lengths in built in and the brain learns how to use the right cercle. It is not popular here.
I had mine done 18 months ago and I have glasses with variofocal lenses which work very well For me. I often work on my computer witj no glasses. I have a correction of -0.75 with à +2.5 additive.
Basically they can put in any fixed focal lengjt Lens you want.
