last time i went to Romford people with a eastend accent were in the minority

in my experience "racism" flows all ways and have been predudiced against in favour of someone from another ethnic background for fear of "upsetting" them .

but as i am a White English Hetrosexual Man i'm bound to be in the wrong anyway .

The company where my wife works recently took 6 people on a three month trial. At the end of the trial they hired the two foreign workers and let the 4 English ones go. That's not racist, it's just a fact.

I don't see anything racist about not liking the fact we have 2.5 million people out of work and are on our knees, when we employ so many foreign workers. I've nothing against them, but the jobs should go to our own citizens first.

I will not be drawn into a long debate regarding this but the original comment is offensive.

The undertone is "the Poles have nicked all our jobs," which is the same as saying the Asians or whoever, have nicked all our jobs.

Many of the 2.5m you refer to will never work, or want to work no matter who is in the country. The Polish people that have second language skills and are motivated to go to another country to find work, will probably be an attractive proposition to an employer when compared to somebody who has only attended the interview to avoid having benefits stopped.

I have 10 employees, only one is from Poland, he is paid UK rates and a valued member of the team. When I advertise for new staff, I am looking for the person most suited to the role, not whoever I think I can pay the least.

As somebody who gets upset if anybody dares put the word 'motorboat' in a sentence, I thought you would be more sensitive to others.

Lisa, best of luck on the job front, it's tough out there, but I would suggest your accent is unlikely to be a problem.

When you level the accusation against the British worker that "Many of the 2.5m you refer to will never work, or want to work no matter who is in the country." you've picked on a pretty save target haven't you?

Try saying that about any other group of people, other that the indigenous White British people that you insidiously refer to. You would be brought up very smartish by the Thought Police. Do you believe that it's OK to denigrate the British worker as opposed to other ethnic/cultural groups? It seems to me that youv'e climbed onto a fashionable bandwagon that promotes/condones anti-British sentiments but uses the racist card when ever any other group might be mentioned.

I am asking myself here who is the racist? I didn't read any racism in Paul's contribution but I did in yours.
