When I recently posted asking for suggestions for sailing boots to repalce my leaky Henri Lloyd ones, it was suggested I return them to Henri Lloyd as they had started leaking after only a few years light use. So I did! This is their response

Our Ref : (YEL2824) RTN112938

Dear Mr Sharky

Re: Y92028 INSHORE RACER BOOTS LGY/CBN 8

In order for Henri Lloyd to maintain and improve the high quality of our products, all returns are carefully analysed on an individual basis by our Quality Assurance department.

We have examined the Inshore Racer boot you returned to us for inspection and on this occasion we are unable to find a defect as a result of the manufacturing process or materials used in manufacturing this product.

As no manufacturing fault has been found and the garment complies with our QA specification we are unable to credit or replace the Ocean extreme boot.

Kind regards,

Seems like a standard fob off to me. Needless to say we will not be purchasing any Henri Lloyd products in future, Musto, Gill and Dubarry for us I think!

That's poor form. i didn't see your previous post but did meet somebody else recently who had returned a pair after just one month because they leaked, and they were replaced.

Glad you agree, I though it was a typical standard response. After one month I doubt they'd have little choice but to replace them as they're under guarantee. If they hadn't I'd imagine Trading Standards would be interested.

Sorry to hear about your probs with HL and Debra, i found them a super org to deal with, they replaced my very old boots when the soles became brittle without any nonsense and Debra was extremely helpfull, A few phone calls sorted everything.

As they have closely examined the boots, perhaps you could write back to them and ask them why the boots had started to leak, if it was not a manufacturing fault. Perhaps the boots reached the end of their designed life or they found some physical damage.

I would maintain a dialogue with them, and keep the forum posted. Good luck with it.

So Henri Lloyd should bend over backwards to help someone who has a pair of their boots that leak after a few years light use?
You cannot be serious? If I had been Debra I would have been a little less polite and told you to go sling your hook!

I'd guess you wouldn't last long in a customer services role then!

Already done!

Clearly your expectations of so called quality items are lower than mine. You're entitled to your opinion of course, I just don't happen to agree with it.
