Henley Regatta allows trousers for women

BBC news crawl tonight noted that women will now be allowed to wear trousers in the Steward's Enclosure. My word what is the world coming to.

How progressive. Until fairly recently, women were not allowed to be on deck during the sail past of the the Royal Ontario Yacht Club. They were required to sit at attention below decks (whatever that means).

According to Steve Redgrave they can also choose to wear a dress if they wish to.

Which in real world Berks and Bucks on Thames get about 23 to the gallon.

Quite a nice day yesterday, not all that busy I wonder if it will fill up at the weekend.

Plenty of EA boats out. It's a more complex job this year as the rowing shells are launched from Fawley meadow so they all have to cross the navigation channel before and after racing.

Makes it all more interesting but also more potential for collisions.

Anyway I shall be out in the dinghy this afternoon ensuring behaviour is impeccable at the regatta.

Might even ask for a race with the 400hp police boat.

I was hoping to attend this year but work got in the way, I am, without fail going to attend the Trad Boat Rally later this month.

I'll probably be around at the trad but not sure if it will be in the dinghy as I will likely have my offspring with me so may be sensible to use one of the larger platforms.
