Anyone on here going? are they still allowing only two boats out on the booms?
I can understand this for boats staying overnight but feel that this rule should be relaxed while the festival is open and the music on the floating stage is on as if boats were able to raft up this would cut down the problem of congestion around the stage area as in previous years.

What do we think of the line up?

Remember that mooring to the booms is in the gift of HRR - they're for the rowers and nothing else. In pervious years boats have damaged the posts by rafting more than two deep and tearing them out. It is said that the damage cost HRR loadsa' money - so they threatened to withdraw the facility.

Henley festival - which is not free for ordinary folk would also like the boats gone - but they add some colour to the event.

Be grateful for what you've got....

They add so much colour to the even that the Festival use photographs of the moored boats in all of their promotional literature. How drab it would seem without them.

I would agree with Chill's idea of allowing three out while performances are on.

I can't believe a few 4x4 piles would cost them that much, not that I've seen many damaged in the 15 or more years I've been attending.

Only damage done as far as I know was when that drunken muppet in the Sunseeker decided he would drive through them! If the stream is not running then there is very little load on them. Also didn't they take pictures and hand out leaflets saying you would be libel for any damage last year? If that's the case it's up to the boat on the inside to decide how many boats can raft!
