Hempel or International epoxy for osmosis protection?

As the title goes, whci would you go for? Which one have you used?

I guess the equivalent products are:
Hempel Light primer
Itnernational Gelshield

cheers!

I used Blakes Gelprotect SFE200 many years ago. It was easy to use and, at the time, it had a wider range of temperature (min 5C) and longer overcoat time than any of the opposition. Certainly seemed to do its job up to the time I sold the boat and presumably still is.

I have done three different boats over a long period of ownership, the first with Hempel but so long ago that i can not comment further other than to report that it was ok. The second when I still had an income, was done with Awlgrip Hullgard, very expensive but easy to use and sold in American quarts, ten tins in alternating shades did five coats on a 38' hull, I recorded in the log that it was easy to apply but needed about 5% thinners to get it to tip off smooth. Very hard and durable I scraped off the antifouling completely twice without scratching it.
This winter having stripped off the antifouling I put just two coats of Jotuns Penguard HB followed by a coat of Vinyguard 88. It was cold and very windy at the time but it went on fine with a roller tipped off immediately with a foam brush (by my wife who has better attention to detail than me). The epoxy was hard to tip off mainly because of the strong east wind but the Vinyguard was less tacky and easier to get smooth. I only used 2 coats this time as the latest GRP is claimed to be osmosis resistant.
My reasons for choosing Jotun this time;- comprehensive range of products including thinners and low temp. additives, brilliant service from SML including fast fair priced delivery and lots of advice and convincing technical info for each product, and finally; price, about 1/2 the price of competing products and 1/3 of Awlgrip.

I used Hempel because it only needed 3 coats but I found the finish quite rough because of the depth that has to be applied with each coat. What I have seen of the international product you get a smoother finish but require more coats.
