Evening all,
I cant lift or lower my sterndrive on my sealine s23. All was working fine on my survey, and handover a couple of weeks ago. Turned Up for my first weekends boating on my first boat and its a no go. Shame with the lovely weekend we've all had. Any advice would be well received.

What's it currently trimmed at? Is the LCD display working?

The first port of call is always the 2 relays on the trim pump in the engine bay. Remove the relays, clean all contacts with contact cleaner and try again.

-EDIT- If it's not going up OR down, changes are it's the main fuse. On my KAD300 it's on top of the engine behind the black box, think it could be located somewhere else on the KAD32.

This is the fuse: https://www.keypart.com/stock/3819905

The display reads -5 which is where ive been told is the best position to leave it when berthed. Its a question I should have realy have asked on Saturday as I will not be back ojn the boat till next weekend.

It is. You're best to have the drive left fully down (if depth permits) leaving the rams tucked in = less chance of growth on the rams and damaging the seals.

Thanks for that advice. I think the workshop are going to take a look at it tomorrow. lets hope its not to pricey. The water heater packed up on the Sunday aswell. Not a textbook start but better it happens in the marina than miles away.

good luck we have all been there

If it’s at minus 5 there is no reason not to use the boat .
Will look at problem on service
Cheers VP,
I was worried about getting stuff caught around the prop. A chap 100 yards infront of me on saturday was drifting with his drive lifted and a huge rope wrapped all around it. He managed to get it all off but if that was me I would have been knackered. Or its a jump in the water job. Didnt fancy that. I would like to use it this coming weekend so the workshop are going to have a look. Hope they keep the price real.

Undoubtedly a plus point with drives is the ability to lift them to clear if they get fouled. However, such occurrences are relatively rare and using the boat without the ability to raise the legs is no different than all those shaft drive boats out there not to mention most yachts. As VP says, no reason not to use the boat but if it is peace of mind you are after then fair enough.

Many outdrive boats at our club leave the drives down permanently.
Some probably cannot raise them anyway.
No reason at all not to use the boat, get the problem fixed as soon as finances/time permit.
Probably more urgent if you are river based and shallow water is problem but if coastal no real difficulty.
Usually lack of use and very likely something simple needs sorting, especially if boat has been laid up for long period prior to sale.
Chances of outdrive getting fouled are fairly minimal and being able to raise them would help but not in all circumstances.

Thats a fair comment. Never really thought about the shaftdrive boaters. My inexperience has cost me a couple of days cruising. shhhhhh dont tell shmbo.
