I'm in the process of fitting a small automatic bilge pump to help pump out any small bits of water that work their way into the bilges. I've decided to use an old unused bilge pump thru-hull instead of drilling yet another hole in the hull. The existing thru-hull has a plastic pipe with an external diameter of 1 1/4 inch and internal diameter of 1". The hose pipe I'm using with the bilge pump is 3/4" internal diameter.

The hose pipe does actually fit quite nicely into the thru-hull plastic bit so it must have an external diameter close to 1".

Question is: What would be the most suitable way to fix the hose pipe to the thru-hull fitting?

A reducer like the above
or
Search for "hose reducer" on asap

But what about a rigid insert into the ¾" hose and then clamping a short length of 1" hose onto it

I'm about to start a similar project myself, the instructions said to fit a non return valve to stop the pump from cycling. I got one which also scaled up from 19mm to 25mm or 3/4" to 1" in old money. Found mine on fleabay but can't remember which company i bought from in the end.
Hope this helps

It depends on what end is on the through hull fitting. It could be screwed (probably BSP thread), plain ended male or plain ended female. ASAP will probably have something to fit. If you fit a non return valve it should be as close to the pump as you can get it.
